In making the live action video, Was That a Wanting, I respond in a direct and intuitive way to the narrative of a poem written by Edwin Torres. The shadow play imagery that I create aims to give a visual form to the voice of the poet. As the words leave his mouth, they are carried across the screen like sound waves traveling through the air. The animation is done in real time, shaped by the narrative that is literally being pulled from the speaker's mouth.
